Question Exhaust replacement question

I'm thinking of maybe upgrading my stock exhaust cat system. I've seen a few used Bonez systems for sale on this and other boards. Some questions:

1) Why would some people be selling "two week old" cat systems or main cats? Why'd they buy them in the first place?

2) Is it worth buying a used one for a good price, or paying full price and getting new?

3) Bonez has a "Super-Flo System" and a "Double Cat System" (as seen on www.rx7.com). I'm a bit of an exhaust dummy -- what are the differences between the two?

Thanks in advance!

1. Maybe it was too loud and they got unwanted attention, maybe its older than 2 weeks, just cleaned up for sale...watch out though, buying from people online is like buying crack. You never know what your gonna get. (guess I shoulda used the Gump box o chocolates...)

2. IMHO, new. That way you know its in good shape. A few extra hundred dollars for complete peace of mind isn't too bad.

3.
Super Flo-Has a downpipe and a high flow cat. Only 1 cat in this setup. Not as emissions friendly depeding on if your car gets **** probed.

Double Cat-More of a replacement for the factory set of converters. There should be 2 cats in this setup. Pro: Replacement for expensive dealer cats. Con: Restrictive exhaust.

Hope this helps ya out some, alot's my own opinion.

Go for the racing beat full exhaust system or go with a 3" downpipe, highflow cat and an apexi n1 dual... if u want quiet... go with RB... if u want some sound... N1

The Racing Beat stuff looks nice, but I want something that is going to pass emissions, street legal, etc.

The exhaust system I have on there now is stock cats and cat-back. The main cat rusted through after I bought the car, then I had it replaced with a used stock one.

I think it's time to upgrade the whole system now from the exhaust back. The Bonez stuff seems to fit my needs, so that's why I was considering it. My cat-back & tips are in good shape, so I'll probably keep those.

Then hopefully I can get some better gas mileage and freeway performance. My '86 N/A is a daily driver, has served me well so far!

Ok, I simpathize with you man. I just bought a 89 GTUs N/a and the bastard who had it before me never knew how to take care of a rotary. I think I took it because I felt for it . Anyway, I am faceing this same stupid problem and no one gives me any answers. Anyway I was thinking of putting a bonez super flow duo cat replacment system on and an N1; I like the sound and much less restrictive. Anyway I was wondering if the damn Bonez cat hooks strait to my damn manifold or is there another cat before the bonez. Stupid question, however, I havn't had the time to get under the car and see, it is a tad to cold in Maine, and my dad won't share his garage. Well thanks for the help.

I THINK...

That the Bonez cat system just hooks up to the stock manifold. Because if you go to www.rx7.com, you can see that the two different versions of the Bonez system (one with 2 cats and one with just 1 cat) look like they are a direct bolt in to replace the pipe between the stock manifold and stock cat-back.

That's also what I've been told, so I think it's correct.
