Exhaust related question..

ok so i have an rb header running to the main cat and then the pipes leading to the tips. since the precats have been removed i wanted to take out the main cat and put a straight pipe, but was told it would be to loud. so im thinking of getting a silencer to replace the main cat. my question is would exhaust flow be improved without the cat and replacing with a silencer or a straight pipe.. pretty much im trying to improve exhaust flow

Yes, to the cat being a restriction. And yes, to the straight pipe being way too loud with a header.

A tiny bit. A presilencer / resonator pipe is just a straight pipe surrounded by steel mesh to absorb sound. There's nothing physically blocking the exhaust path like in a cat.
