Exhaust Question (OMG YES ANOTHER!)

Well, this is a custom exhaust question.

I've got the supercharger (7 inch blower - camden) and I've pretty much begun upgrading all the other areas, such as fuel (FD Fuel Pump was just bought, injectors are next).

But my income tax refund is coming in, expected to be well over 2k according to my dad after he counted it all out.

My question is, should I just go with the Racing Beat Exhaust (Dual or Collected, either doesnt matter to me) or have a bigger exhaust made, like 3.5 or 4.0? I don't know the benefits of having the 3.5 or 4.0 besides more flow?

It's a stock port, just has the Supercharger on (such as with a turbo, bigger exhaust is better, as there is less back pressure) I didn't know if it would be different with the supercharger.

* Sorry

you need SOME backpressure or you loose horsepower. but less is better. racing beat and other good companies design their products to work with the car. so its really just a matter of how crazy you want to get with your exhuast and how much your willing to spend. such as if you wanted dual exit pipes, or single, or what size pipe you wanted or how loud or quiet you wanted it. call your local exhuast shop and tell them how you want your car setup, like pipe size, dual/single exit, how many silencers/mufflers/cats/no cats ect.... and see how much a custom setup would be as compared to a pre-made setup

Well, it really depends on your header setup, there's no point in any large diameter if your header is only 2.5"

well.....for a stock ported motor (even though its supercharged) I would say that an overall exhaust diameter (of a single portion of the piping) of 2.5" - 3" should be perfect

really even 3" is probably SLIGHTLY overkill for that setup......but again running a full dual or full single you wil want to keep in that size range (i.e. if you have a true dual setup 1.5-1.75" per rotor would be TONNES)

Keep in mind when sizing exhaust like this that you are only going to make it breathe as well as its most restictive part will allow.....meaning that if you have stock ports running a HUGE 4" pipe front to back isnt going to make any more power because the stock ports aren't capable of flowing 4" pipe to its max capability

Makes sense, I've decided to go with the True Dual System by Racing Beat and just use that, it should be suffecient for the amount of hp/tq I'll be making

3.5" or 4" exhaust isn't even needed on most turbo applications unless they go with a big fat turbo.

Kahren can build you a custom header that has a 3" outlet, talk to him. Then Racing Beat turbo 3" presilencer, and some type of 3" catback, my suggestion is a single since it's lighter.
