Exhaust problem in my '86 FC
Hi everyone, I'm new to these boards and I'm having a bit of trouble with my FC. Every time I rev high (usually 4500+) a whole shitload of smoke pours out the back of my car. I have no idea what's causing it and why it's only when I rev high. Is this a known issue or is it something specific to me?

It's blue-ish and had a somewhat indescribable smell, but it chokes me worse than regular exhaust fumes. I'm thinking it's oil or something, but I don't know how it would get in the exhaust. o-O

That sounds bad. Generally, this is caused by worn or damaged oil o-rings. While it does mean that the engine needs to come apart, the good news is that the engine can continue to run for a LONG time with this condition. Unless the rings deteriorate more, the excess oil will burn off and you will just need to top it up more often, while you save for a rebuild.

But wouldn't that qualify it to not pass Maryland inspection (It was inspected a few weeks ago before I bought it)? I mean, the sheer mass of smoke would cause some problems with emissions.

Sorry for the bump, but it seems that it only happens when I rev it high in the same gear for a long period of time. When I rev high and shift fast, it doesn't seem to have a problem. Let's hope it stays that way.
