Exhaust Problem

Car: 87 S4 Tii
Corksport Exhaust w/ stock cat bolt up

So I have just recently acquired a new downpipe, here is a picture of it:

And here are a couple of pictures of me trying to put the downpipe on:

It is about 3 inches short to the actual cat. Now the guy that I got this from said that the downpipe came off of an S5. But when I look like on Racing Beats site, or any site that sells exhaust for my car, they all generalize the downpipes and such to just 87-91. My question is, is the S5 Cat in fact longer than the S4? If anyone could help me out here that would be great. I want to just keep my stock cat on there for simplicity sake (already hollowed out). Come monday, I am just going to get a test pipe made, and I am just trying to save a couple of bucks.

It may have come off an S5, but certainly wasn't with the stock exhaust. OE part numbers are different between the series, although interchangeable. Aftermarket is the same '86-'91 Turbo.

That's a DP made for a specific exhaust system. You can have the DP cut and a 3" piece welded in to make up the difference.

if you read a few websites like racing beat there downpipe is only made to work with the rest of their exhaust
