Correct me if i'm wrong...exhaust pipe diameter---- taking out cats
i noticed my main converter was clogged, (Coal red when i looked underneith car) My car lost all power, wont idle and revs slow.... Well i went to autozone to buy a converter and did for $66 (quick fix unil i get enough for new full exhaust) well i took it to an exhaust shop and the guy said he wouldnt put it on because it wasnt the right one.. he said i needed a certain one because rx7s are dependant on there exhaust. I tried to tell him (correct me if i'm wrong) that in n/a's reducing backpressure can be bad but in the turbo it wont matter. he said $300 heh (*****) well i left and called my mechanic he said he'd put it on for $30 on friday.. i cant wait that long i would like to cut the cat out and just place a pipe their. what size pipe will i need, its stock exhaust i guess..

just pull the cats off and crush the stuff inside with a broom hande or somehting, pour it out (don't breath the dust!) and put it back on.. it'll get you back on the road until your guy can do the work.

they're bolted on. Depending on your proximity to the rust belt, you may not be able to get the bolts off. Mine were really tough but I finally got them off. It's an unbolt-pound pound- re-bolt job.
No patch necessary. You MAY need a gasket or two depending on the condition of the old ones.
