exhaust in non-emission state...

There's no emissions here in Idaho, and I was wondering if I should just run 2.5" straight pipe or something. I have a 91 n/a. I know nothing, and don't claim to know anything, which is why I'm asking the experts. What cost-effective setup should I go with? I don't care about name-brands, so no Apex-i or Greddy for me.... they cost too much.

im just gonna say yes run w/that set-up because everybody w/a NA has that set up. straight pipe to whatever exhaust they prefer, you can go to a shop and have them straight pipe it for you, or you can go w/a set up from whatever company that has a set up for a RX7

yeah. I'll have them run 2.5 straight pipe from Exhaust manifold, ALL THE way back. I'm gonna have them bend it as little as possible. I'm too cheap to buy a cat-back. I'm just gonna run straight pipe w/a resonator.

You do not want a straight pipe, trust me. Neither do you want the Apexi N1 mufflers.

I live in South Eastern WA, so there are no emissions here either. Best bet is, and cheapest is:

1. Get a header from Racing beat for $200 or about $150ish used or buy one from Makenzie71, his are great and they are direct stock replacement.

2. cheapest way after that is gut your cats with a peice of reedbar, it will clear up much flow.

3. Name brands do mean stuff, because each brand is different and will perform differently. If $500 isnt that bad, get the Racing Beat cat-back. If it is too much, get the Borla system.

Lastly, don't go straight pipes, you WILL blow out your eardrums and Will bleed from the ears. You become a cop magnet (and yes, there are sound restrictions in Idaho, too)

I'll just gut out my cats, and buy a header.... That seems to be the cheapest route for me. Then later, I'll get the RB cat-back exhaust.
