exhaust manifold gasket?

real quick dumb question...

does it matter which side is facing up towards the top of the engine? one side has a long not so deep groove, and the other side has a deep narrower groove.

look at THIS picture, see how all of them have the thin/long groove on top? is this how its supposed to go on? and would it matter if it was the other way around?

well it went on ok, but i have it the other way around narrow/large gap on top, and my exhaust leak got worse.. and im pretty sure thats where its coming from. so i wanted to know if anyone knows for sure if it matters which way you put it on... its been leaking ever since i first took off the turbo, i thought it was the gasket because i used the same one, but now that i replaced it, nothing! (unless its upsidedown)

could my manifold possibly be warped? but if it didnt leak before i dont think it could be warped... so its got to be the gasket right?...

Well for a temporary band aid fix why dont you try liquid gasket sealer? You should let it sit for a while before starting the car though.

i got some of that, but i think im just going to turn the gasket around, and if it still doesnt work then the manifold must be warped. but first i gotta wait for it to stop raining...

ITS FIXED!!!!

turns out it was comign from the space between the manifold ans the turbo... the 2 lower nuts were almost falling off... i have no clue how that happend, but i tightend them down and NO MORE OBNOXIOUS NOISE!!! im soo happy, i cant believe it...what a diff. i think it might have blown the gasket in the process however because there is still a tiny bit leaking.
