exhaust info from mazdatrix

i was on the phone with mazdatrix today about some flanges i ordered for a custom exhaust. they told me that the "tin can" sound on most custom exhausts comes from using a thin walled exhaust pipe. makes sense since all the racing beat stuff is thick and heavy. helps to deaden the tinny sound. they suggested a pipe wall thickness of 1/8 of an inch. just thought i would share what i learned today.
