Exhaust gasket questions....part numbers? best place to get them?

i want to gut my cats and i will prolly need the exhaust gaskets replaced....where is the best and cheapest place to get them?

Well man, you might want to worry more bout getting replacment bolts rather than gaskets. They shouldnt be all that bad (sounds funny, but true). The metal/cork gaskets they used hold up pretty well, but if you do perhaps happen to have to replace them you can go to say Pep-boys with the size you need (bring the old one, or the cat or something, as the hole in the center might be the same but the bolt holes might not line up right). Use pennetrating oil on the bolts and let them soak for a few mins or you will probably break them, seriously, and thats no fun. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Well i dont want to have my exhaust totally dismantled and then Autozone doesnt have the gaskets in stock or something if i need them. My 7 is a daily driver and ive got to get to work ya know...also when i checked for exhasut gaskets at Mazdatrix they were like $42 why are they sooo expensive there and soooo cheap at autozone? I have an 88 TII BTW so i only have 2 cats to worry about. ohh and tripple 7's why would i have to mess with my mufflers....i dont want to gut those too

Well you mentioned it was your daily driver, in that case id say do work like this, that may impair you driving the car if something goes wrong, on say the weekend where you might have a few days to fix the Fup so to speak. i doubt you'll need to replace the gasket anyways, but worse case senario you'll have to drive around with an exhaust leak for a few days. You'll be fine, gut away my man gut away.

*tears* i love you man....you can even have my bud light what kind of penetrating oil are you referring too?? Like WD-40 or do i need something a little more "heavy duty"....i wont be doing this until monday after i get paid so if i need money for something i will have it....any suggestions on oil to use just let me know and ill go get some...and i will definately let you guys know how it turns out

I like WD-40 or some of that PPwhatever in a yellow can, but WD-40 is tried and true. I cant remember since it was so long ago when i had a stock car but the heat sheilds i think gave me some trouble. good luck grass-hoppa

i am the grass hoppa right now man..i used to have an 87 TII but it was in such bad shape there was nooo hope in modding it....i finally have a TII that runs right and i want to make sure i do stuff the right way so i really appreciate you being so quick in your responses man...it means alot to have all of you here to help me.

I just finished installing a Racing Beat Cat replacement pipe and Pre-silencer on my vert and had to remove everthing in order to install the setup.

I was just listing all of the gasket out of coutesy.

These gaskets are not listed specifically for the Rx-7 but are close enough to not make any difference in performance.


Buy the gaskets in advance you can always return them if you dont need them there only 89 cents each.

You know man, im not sure about that. I have never owned a TII or a Turbocharged car (yet, see sig ) but if you start hitting fuel cut then yeah you should get one AFTER you get some bigger injectors and a controler. If you just get a fuel cut id be affraid of running lean, but i dont know for sure.

On a side note this forum can be and can-not be good sometimes for advice. If you have anything controversial like pisons vs triangles or like V8 swap in an Rx7 or anything like that they will shun you and dont want anything to do with you, but occaisionally you'll find some straight people on here. Good luck with the TII and get some pics for us, i love to see a nice TII or even a TII work-in-progress.

Another thing, hows the compression on your new TII? and you might need to flush coolant system and so on. ok im just babling so im out.

that isnt babbling there man....all good points! i as yet have not flushed the coolant, i only have like 1 day off a week and still dont make much money cause im paying for a blown 87TII and my "new" 88 TII. I'm just gonna get Shell Rapid Lube to flush the coolant...thats who changes my oil and they do anything i want...they even know to drain my oil cooler everytime...they are pretty cool. I would NEVER i repeat NEVER EVER put anything else except a 20B in my Rex...NEVER! Ohh and i already got some pics man...i wont show the before pics anymore...it had one huge red windshield wiper...like 225/65 on the rear tires...i fixed all that...installed the 2 stock wipers from my old 87 TII its got the 87 rims and all stock size tires now so it sits level. it has a "fairly new rebuild" about 60k miles which i know 45,000 of those miles where driven by a 60 year old man(i knew the first owner) and the rest was by a 17 year old kid about 10-15k by him. No idea on the compression...it runs great but im still really scared to check cause this RX is my last hope... here are some pics of me and my friend in his 88 GTU. i brought my girlfriend and he brought my sister.

The Autozones near me don't have the gasket.. neither does Pepboys or Kregan.. but the dealer does.. $10.00 a pop

There is some place that sells ghetto gaskets.. not the metal ones like Mazda uses but just regular gaskets and I think they are about $3.00 each.. do a search and you should find the link to the store. I had the link but lost it and am too lazy to seach right now.

Any exhaust gasket of the size will do. If you are talking about a grey paper gasket that wouldnt really do well, thats more for like water pump/intake manifold type deals. They dont make paper exhaust gaskets (that i know of, and if they do then i guess they'll be fine). If you are thinking of getting some gasket material and then cutting your own out i would get the cork/metal type of sheet for like 7something bucks or some **** like that.

How much for the transmission, flywheel, clutch assembly and the starter? No shipping id drive my happy *** up to Tenn to get it (and **** take it out if you want).

Another thing is how much for the whole intake manifold track? From the block to the Throttle body.

Hell if the price is right on this transmission while im down there yankin' it out i could help you with your exhaust as well, just a thought.

man put your price on it man and ill tell you if it sounds fair or not...dont jew me you have first dibbs on anything you want and i can take a few days off work and we can take it all out. i believe the manifold piece you are talking about im not sure if its the one or not got chipped and i had to get the chipped jb welded in(it works fine) but you might not want something that is chipped...the clutch and all the tranny stuff worked great last time i drove it...doesnt chirp in any gear...just pm me or message me in this thread. i would love to have some help with my exhaust from someone who knows what the hell they are doing...namely you!

ohh yeah and the starter is fucked..so it might not be worth your drive for just a tranny , flywheel, and clutch assy

I hadnt noticed you were looking for gaskets on a turbo II

This gasket should be tha same for the
Cat, and Y-pipe Flange

Part number: 60025 Price: $.89 Each

unfortunetly I dont know of an aftermarket turbo flange gasket.
