This is fairly normal:

If it looks like this then you have a big problem:

The transmission changes torque into speed. The higher the gear, the higher the speed, the lower the torque and therefore the slower the acceleration. This is how all cars work.

Instead of listing what hasn't been done to the car, could you fill us in on what has been done?

This condition is normal for rotary engines. It is more evident if the air pump is removed or non-functioning.

Hehehe, yeah, since the OP did not specify the intensity of the flames, I figured it would be good to show a reference. Back when I flew Hueys we would occasionally get soldiers running up to us screaming about the flame that came out of our engine during the starting sequence because they didn't realize that it was normal.

nothing has been done to the car beside a tune up, and an oversized radiator that the guy before me put in, and today its been doing that, and also smoking, with an oil/gas smell. and i have power in every gear besides 5th. when i shift to 5th its hesitant till about 3k then starts to gain power. (the flames aren't that bad, only about max a foot out from exhaust and not constant.)
