exaust manifold studs are coming lose .. WTF

exaust manifold studs are coming lose .. WTF

i was taking the headers off to replace the gasket and the studs are coming out too !!! what do i do

Take them out and remove the nut, if possible, while they are out. Use Loctite stud and bearing mount when you put them back in. Use anti-seize when you put the nuts back on. If you can't remove the nut, your local auto parts store will have studs and nuts to fit. Just bring the old one to match up.

Take two screws, tighten them against each other on the stud, then tighten the stud into the housing with the screws, then loosen the two screws and the stud will be nice and tight in the housing again.

if the nut is seized to the stud just replace the stud and nut.... its cheap and a good insurance against overtightening or undertightening your manifold....

its going into aluminum so i would be careful not to crossthread if i were you....
