Im inspecting my eshaft and i was looking at the bearing in there and i saw just beyond it a couple of what looked like pieces of wire. I gently touched them with the tip of a pencil and they fell away. They are about 1cm long and look like some thick wire. There were 4 1cm ones and one that was about .5cm. I looked through my haynes, and rewatched my rebuild video but it didnt mention anything about it. Any ideas?

my best guess is what you saw were pieces (broken pieces) of the bearing, but posting several close up high res pics of the parts in question should bring some better advice.

Yeah, i'm with speedo there. Sounds like metal shavings, and pictures may repeal that declaration.

The only needle bearings in the engine are the torrington bearings in the front stack. They use very short needles.
