Error codes from the ECU

OK, I tryed to do the right thing and do a search on this, just cant seem to find helpfull info.
My 91 vert. will rev. up to red line if I do it slow and steady, however, if I punch the peadal down fast it starts sputtering, then I get the engine warning light.
So I did the code checking the thread said, I came up with codes, 26 & 27, which are MOP(step motor), and, MOP(general)basic fuel inj. and fixed timing, respectively.
My questions are, is the step motor in the electric oil pump I saw when I replaced my water pump?
What does basic fuel inj. and fix timing have to do with the MOP?
And, can I just swap out the MOP with a new one and be done with my sputtering problem?
Has anyone out there had this problem or have any input on the matter?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like your car is going into limp mode. You can swap in a known good OMP and it should solve your problems. Also pull your ECU to check for burn spots. Some people have had the OMP take out there ECU as well.

Thanks for the input, can you direct me to a source in getting a price on a OMP and ECU.
I kind of had a feeling it might be something like this, I saw a listing on MAZDATRIX I think, a new OMP for about $1300.00 ........OUCH!!!!

Just thought I would post this as I seem to have figured out what my problem is.
The diagnostic codes I retreived from my ECU were correct, there was a problem with the circuit to my OMP.
I found two wires loose at the connection on top of the alternator,
these two wires run directly to the OMP, the ECU generated a problem code based on the lack of information due to a broken circuit.
I guess this just illusrtates the need to use a little common sense when trying to figure out a problem.
Luckily I only bought a used OMP, which I now have an extra!?!?!?

Lesson learned being: check and double check all the simple things before throwing money at the problem. We have all been there.
