Engine Testing Question
I am about to start trying to rebuild my first couple 13B engines but I wanted to ask if anybody knew if there are shops out there that will test an engine and its quality without havin to full re-hook the entire thing back up inside the car? I didnt know if shops ever did that, but I wanted to see if there was anybody out there that has done it or knows somebody who has. Being in Dallas we're blessed with one of the top notch RX-7 shops around but I haven't personally dealt with them myself. OR is there a sure fire way to check it through and do a full range of diagnostics myself? Im taking this one small step at a time. This is square one.

An engine is just a fancy air pump. If you take your time, follow the FSM, and are methodical and careful, you should be fine. Things like checking endplay and making sure water seals dont fall out of place become crucial. Don't rush. The point is, once the block is assembled, you can use a tranny housing, battery and starter, etc., to check compression. That is a good way to tell. I'm sure more advice is forthcoming. Lastly, there's nothing better than doing the first rebuild with someone experienced (and good) watching along. I didn't have this luxury, but did alright.

Very coo Santos. I was hoping you would chime in. I'll just take this real slow and when I've completed my first one I'll report back about the set-up were talking about for the compression test. Thanks again man.
