The '86 - '88 model year injectors use a different resistance level from the '89 - '91 model year injectors. The wiring harness connector on the '86 - '88 injectors is different from the '89 - '91 injectors so you can't install the wrong injector.

There are lot's of little differences like this in the '89 -'91 cars that make an engine swap a challenge.

Best way to do it is to swap the entire wiring harness, ECU, etc. Even that has it's challenges cause some of the connectors under the '86 - '88 dash do not mate up with the '89 - '91 counterparts.

It's not an impossible job, but it's not a bolt in.

The change between the injectors also occured within the 86-88 model years.As he says , just keep the harness/injectors the same.The computers themselves don't seem to care , I have switched computers back and forth from a car w/ the different harness and it made no difference .

Actually, the injectors change from 86-87 mid year. Those were low impedance injectors. 87 mid to 88 were hi impedance injectors. 89-91 were hi as well, but not sure if they were the same flow rate or not.

Punkncat is exactly right, just match the ECU with the harness (they are slightly different between 86 and 88).
