Engine Support When Removing Transmission?
1988 Base Model.
I'm going to remove the transmission with the engine remaining in the car. Does the engine need to be supported when I separate the two? I've checked previous posts and no one mentions this except the Haynes repair manual which recommends an overhead engine hoist or a block of wood on the oil pan and a floor jack.
Any comments will be appreciated.
Thanks.

you don't need to support the engine as it is already bolted in with the engine mounts on each side of the engine.
You may however want to remove the Undertray and put a Scissor jack under the front of the engine when putting the transmission back in,Jack the engine up and make it lean Front up/Back down.(not Excessively.just enough to work with.)
It will really help you align the input shaft to the pilot bearing, and make things alot easier to get the transmission on to the Engine's rear..The top bolts are hard to get to.

Thanks for the info and the tip (engine tilt). Track lapping days are coming up and I have a new Exedy clutch disk and pressure plate to install.
