I own a FC3C Turbo II and my engine stalls almost everytime that i hit a bump on the road.The rev needle dives instantly and returns to the proper revs and the engine stalls but dont dies. Sometimes though the engine dies after hard braking...

I assume that it is not a fuel delivery related problem because it happens instantly and i believe that it has something to do with the electric system of the car. Recently i checked all the grounds and they were ok. Could it be the coil igniters or the alternator??? How can i check if these are ok???
Has anyone in here the same problem???Could it be fuel related???

the filter inside your fuel pump is clogged..... you can get a new one on ebay.....also search the forum for "fuel Pump Sock" and you will find all the answers you need...

i bet it also cuts off when you turn sharply

 

No...no cut offs when i turn sharply...just when i hit a bump or a small ditch.
I replaced the fuel pump filter one year ago.
The stalling as i said is instantly...thats why i dont think its fuel related.Thanx for your reply though

 

it is not fuel
it is electrical if the needle drops instantly down...

 

Yes i assume the same thing...but....what part exactly could be faulty???
What causes instant rev drops??

 

I have the problem with the engine shuttin off during hard breakin but never through rough streets.. You may want to change ya engine mounts for stability.. check your injectors and replace ya fuel filter..
During braking i usually put the car in first gear with the clutch pedal to the floor.. the car doesnt stall at all.. and once you stop put it back in neutral.. and ya good to go..

It's electrical, period.
You'll need to check all electrical components and wiring to diagnose this problem.
This is a royal PAIN IN THE *** to do.

well you know rotarys have terrible e-problems..
and we really cant take it to the dealer.. cuz they wont know what the Hell they are doin..
So you have a suggestion?.. besides buying a new wire harness from the dealer?

EDIT: Oh yeah.. and do like i said before it helps.. but not sure about ya hitting bumps.. check ya oil pan and engine mounts..

I FOUND IT!!!!!!

Ok sorry for the caps but i am really excited that i finally fixed this extremely annoying problem!!!!!Now my car runs fine and believe it or not i think that its more powerfull and the engine runs so smooth!!!!

Here is the story:
Yesterday i decided to check all the grounds of my car. After i checked the main 4-5 grounds (cleaned them and re-installed them) i started to search the "dark" areas of the engine bay with a flashlight. I was looking for leaks but i found out that two cables below the BAC valve were naked, corroted , rusted (their color was rusty green!!!!) and ready to fall apart.

These two cables attach to something that looks like a sensor but i dont know what sensor is this. This "sensor" is located below the BAC valve and i think that its shape is cylidrical. Any ideas about it?

The other end of these two cables goes to a harness that attaches to another harness behind the alternator.

So...i cut these rusty cables, cleaned them, and used ducktape to connect them again to the harness. As i told you i dont know what this sensor does but now my car runs so smooth!!!!

Obviously the cause of the stalling was the rubbing of these naked cables with each other.

So...if you ever have a similar problem look for grounds and rusty cables!

 

The sensor looks exactly like the one in the photo. But according to the FSM its not the intake air thermosensor because the air intake thermosensor is located below the IC and to the driver's side, right?

 

I "rebuilded" the complete engine harness and the problem now is gone!!!

LOL...the problem was electrical indeed! Engine harnesses are getting brittle with time and many problems are caused by that. Also ECUs may cause many problems. I installed an APEXi POWER FC and many minor problems are gone! Best mod ever!
