Engine Shake? Engine Mounts?
Engine Shake? Engine Mounts?
I recently noticed that my engine (NA) is shaking a lot. Where are the mounts located, so I can see if something is broken or loose? Is there anything that I should look for specifically? If I grab the alternater, I can shake the engine with my hand.

ok a couple things
assuming this a second Generation Rx7 (sense you posted in the 2nd gen.. but I have no clue what type of car you have) on my 86 N/A the motor mounts are on either side of the engine, by the strut towers... There are only two of them and then the engine mounts to the transmission as well...one mount is bolted to the bottom of the oil pan, the other is mounted on the side of the engine below the spark plugs... I'm assuming all stock 2nd gens are this way
secondly be careful grabbing hold of the alt and shaking the engine,.,, I would probably grab the waterpump housing or something a little more sturdy
Try tightening the mounts.. perhaps they worked their way loose..
or the "rubber" mount is just old and shot
50 bucks for both Aprox...
