engine revs to 3k then immediatly dies every time you start it
car is an 88 n/a
engine revs to 3k when you start it then immediatly stalls,
if you give it alot of gas it will stay running but it will never idle
bucks and hesitates below 2.5k above that it drive fine perfectly normal.
i figure its a vacuum leak, but it should still be rough in higher revs right?

Sounds like a huge vacuum leak, most likely a broken inlet duct or a hose that came off. If you had someone with you, I've been able to validate this as my theory on a S4 holding in the AFM flapper by hand as the RPM's drop.
