Engine Rebuilds

alright, im getting a 87 Turbo engine soon and im looking at sites for rebuilds. what im aiming for in my rebuild is new housings, some street porting, and possibly a 3mm upgrade as well. right now i have 3 main sites in mind: Mazdatrix, Pineapple Racing and Banzai Racing. im not goin with Atkins because i've heard from the shop in goin to the car worked at that they built a 7 w/ a rebuilt eng. from them and it croaked only 6 moths later, no abuse on it. so i'd like to hear whats ya'lls thought on each company is and opinions and what knot. thanks guys.

Out of those 3 sites you mentioned, I have heard good things about banzai racing the most.. but that may be biased because I'm in the midwest (I don't know where the other 2 shops are located off the top of my head).

But IMHO i think doing it yourself would be the best bet! nobody is going to put as much care into your engine as your are.. no offense to shops but its the truth. It may seem intimidating at first, but in all honesty it is not as hard as you'd think..

So basically I would say spend $26 on atkins rebuild video and save the $500 on labor plus shipping, spend one weekend in the garage.. and DIY! but if not.. i'd say banzai racing fo sho!

i'd like to go that DIY route, but this is my first sports car, first rotary, and first time to do major engine work my self. i'd like to eventually try, but im only 18 right now. thanks for the input, if it comes down to time and money, i might do that, or on the rebuild of this engine im goin to get done. who knows! any other info from other people?

mazdatrix is excellent thats what i went with for my rebuild. also if your doing a rebuild for the first time,

either download the shop manual or just buy one like i did everything you need for the rebuild is in there. .

step by step detailed instructions, plus hundreds of other things that come in handy
