engine rebuilding
ugg what a freaking long day.
my motor detonated from going lean about 400 miles into the rebuild, so its time to do things a bit different. or at least i thought.
we started the rebuild just after 10am and i just got finished at like 5pm. the biggest problem we had was we somehow wound up with very odd inner water control rings. they were round and coated with a clear plastic instead of the normal square with the white teflon. the problem with them are well they were round. people learned early on that round pegs dont like square holes. and these seals were just a tad too small so they are just rolling out of the grooves. so it took 3 of us to hold the seals in while we tried to figure out how to press everything together. just putting in the seals took up most of our day, probably easily 5 hours just to get them to seat right. anyway it took us a really long time and it sucked but this motor should rock hard..
i hope i dont have to do this again for a while
here are the pics.

RA coolant seals are a pain in the *** to work with but on the upside if an iron's coolant seal wall fails then those more rigid coolant seals are less likely to fall out of their groove and into the water jacket.
