engine rebuild questions, (wear marks normal?)
Ok, I have my 87 TII engine torn down. But the friend that helped me said some of the wear marks on the e-shaft might not be normal ( it's been a while since he's rebuilt one) So some help on the pics to follow would be nice. If this engine's junk I'm thinking of going JDM TII engine and just running it, might be cheaper.. idk yet.

WTF is a Piston?..Anyone?
someone correct me if im wrong but to me that looks like some chrome has flaked off, which means if you wanted to use the housings they would have to be resurfaced

So is that meaning new housings or sending the current housings to have chrome re bonded to it? Also, are the black lines on the E-shaft signs of overheating? Thanks guys!

shaft looks fine to me, actually it looks quite nice.
housings look better than i expect, but if you want a really tight motor you should replace em and sell those, they will run, but new rotor housings, and flat side housings make a huge difference

The shaft looks okay, but you should measure the journals. It looks like someone really banged it around getting the motor apart at some point. You have to be careful getting the intermediate plate off the shaft during disassembly.
The housings aren't bad... that amount of chrome flaking isn't a killer. You can probably find some nicer used ones, but depending how long you expect the motor to run you could re-use them.
If you decide to junk the shaft, I have a spare lying around that's in perfect condition and I've already measured it out.
