engine question

ok i have been looking around for an engine for my s4 i have an 86 but alot of places say the engine years start at 87 and up is it their mistake or am i just retarted??? is there a difference between the 86 and 87?

86 and 87 and 88 non turbo are the same animal.

ok i thought so i just wanted to make sure it was differnt any thought of why they would have their s4 engine listed as a 87-89?

cause they don't know any better?

the '86 is a rather uncommon model, you don't see a ton of them around.
