Are all S5 N/A motors the same?? or are '90-'91 different from '89s??
What would i need to put a '90 N/A, or S5 if they are all the same into an '87 GXL?? so far I know i need the counterweights, Motor, ECU, and wireing harness. anything else??
lastly does anyone know somewere that sells these motors?? or the stuff to swap them??

all 89-91 non turbo motors are identical.
The wiring harness for an 89-91 motor will not plug into an 86-8 ecu. The other half of the harness which stays in the car will not plug into an 89-91 ecu. You must either use your 86-8 engine harness(using those injectors also) on the 89+ engine, or change every wire in your car to 89+ spec.
IF you get the engine you need the flywheel and front counterweight for the 89-91, and use your 86-8 front cover, OMP, and throttle body and TPS on it. Use your fuel injectors and harness and you may need to modify a plug or extend wires here or there slightly but it would be the easiest way to get it to work. Use the 89-91 crank pullies because the timing differs between the 2.
There is no source for these engines, since there were none made anywhere but north america, and europe I think. SO no jspec or importers have them. Just gotta find a used one or buy a rebuilt one and pay the extra core charge for not having one to start with.
