Engine pic: Is this turbo?

Another one...

I'm still searching for an RX7. I can tell by the pics that this thing is in very good shape, 50 miles on the engine. Is that engine a turbo? I can't tell and he doesn't specify.

snub disphenoid 08-28-05 07:08 PM

No, that's a non-turbo. For future reference, turbo models were produced only from 1987-1991. If you have any questions on how to identify an RX-7, or to see what different models came with, consult the thread titled "what did the FC come with/ Options and standard features", as well as the FAQ that's stickied at the top of this section.

RandomHero 08-28-05 07:09 PM

thats a 4th series non-turbo.

20Bforme 08-28-05 07:14 PM

that is a way over priced non-turbo

Damn straight. As good of condition that its in, wich is very close to mint ;) its not worth that much. Series 5 turbos go for that in good condition.

GodSquadMandrake 08-28-05 07:28 PM

Actually it has 80,000 miles on the engine. I just talked to him. I think i'll offer him $4,000 for it.

RandomHero 08-28-05 07:33 PM

80k on the original engine?

88rx7gxl 08-28-05 07:35 PM

$4000? Thats too much!! Hold out and find a nice TII for that price!!

FCNAred 08-28-05 08:19 PM

ronyrx7 08-28-05 08:59 PM

can u give a little info on that bridge
cuz i also have an 86 n/a

NOPR 08-28-05 09:11 PM

turbo has a giant intercooler on top, but since you probably cant grasp that, it also has a hood scoop which can be seen from BOTH sides of the hood, zomg.

DarkKnightFC 08-28-05 09:28 PM

I dont think you should be spending that 4grand on anything with a rotary in it if you're not sure of the difference between a turbo and non. Do some research on it before you jump into anything because it could be a bad deal.

when i'm looking at a car, i put the VIN into carfax and it'll tell you what engine is in the car for free...

gxlbiscuit 08-28-05 10:28 PM

do alot of research because no offense but you have alot of learning to do.. BUT DAMn i wish i had that car for a daily driver.. god its so clean

Dlpz87 08-28-05 10:33 PM

Wait around and be patient, I picked up my TII for $2800 and it's in pretty good condition. No reason why you can't do the same.

GodSquadMandrake 08-29-05 12:04 AM

He practically laughed and said "There is no way I would let this thing go for so little."
What is up with people and over-valuing RX7's in the midwest? Even the beaters are expensive.

Oh yeah and to all you haters, screw you. We all had to start somewhere.

For future reference, turbo models were produced from late-85, for sale in Japan. They went on sale in the US in 87. ;)

Tournapart 08-29-05 02:03 AM

Dude i got my FC3C for 3,700 and its pretty damn clean IMO, its by no means fast but it looks really nice, ran perfectly, and it only had 92K on the orignal engine when i bought it. juts wait, you WILL find a better deal somwhere else, if you give him 4 grand for that its a rip off, i overpaid for mine, and the convertables are the most overpriced FC's you can buy

Right, right, all these silly technicalities :). That's not really going to help him identify what a TII is and what isn't, though.

i could swear they are fc3s not fc3c or am i wrong

NZConvertible 08-29-05 04:29 AM

FC3S = coupe
FC3C = convertible

totpkg 08-29-05 05:05 AM

If you are using the VIN # as an identifier both the coupe and convertibles begin with ... FC3S ....
