Engine Mount Position?

My car 1987 T2

So i recently changed my engine and transmission mounts to Mazda performance mounts. The engine mounts have a little bump on top which can face in (towards the engine) or out. My question is which way is it supposed to be pointed?

Also after I installed the engine mounts, one of the mount is sitting kinda funny. its like there is something stuck between the mount and the frame, like a little gap. Should I try to make it flush or that will be fine?

Here is a picture of my engine mount.

Imo I don't see anything wrong with how it sits. But if you want you can turn the mount so that the little stub faces outwards instead of towards the engine.
