Engine Management Computers
I was just curious to get some opinions from you guys about engine management computers. How many of you guys with normally aspirated 2nd gens are running a engine computer?? What type of mods would you have to have before it becomes a logical next step to invest in one? What would one cost (the Haltech or the Apex PC)? Would a computer that just allowed control/manipulation of fuel but not ignition timing and other features be sufficient? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to learn something here...thanks.

I don't have an NA with an aftermarket ECU, but I know 2 people who do, and have helped tune both of them. Both of them used it as their first mod, along with a K&N cone filter. The HP increase is staggering, and both cars are faster than my 88 TII was. We will have them on the dyno sometime next month, so I'll be sure to post the results.
I have never tried a fuel-only computer, so maybe someone else can tell you the advantages of this setup.
Good ECU's like the Haltech E6K and Wolf3D run about $1,500 USD, depending on your options.
