Unhappy engine light/TPS

I have a 87 Sport. I want to troubleshoot a problem with a sensor with my motor, but as with this year of second gen I cannot check it with the engine light flashing systm. Is there a way to do this. I see to remember of a way to do this or make a "light set" to do this with, but right now I can't rememeber where. Also does anyone know where I could get a TPS for my car at a better price than a local dealer would charge me. Would be willing to get one used if it was guarenteed to work. Thanks ahead of time.

http://home.rmci.net/panther/86_88ecu.htm Radio Shack has the parts. Cheap. I did it and it takes only about thirty minutes. A little bit of fun too. What is wrong with your old tps, please? https://www.rx7club.com/vforums/show...threadid=36134

I just got my engine rebuilt with the addition of a bridge port. I can't get a good enough idle to the motor. It fluctuates from about 600 to 850 rpms, never steady. I'm thinking that it could be the porting to cause the problem and not entirely the TPS. Maybe it is something else involved. That is why I'd like to use a "engine light" device to help determine what could be bad or good. Any other ideas on this problem would be helpful. Also to add to this, I can drive the car to full warm-up, shut it off, then get in and have a problem starting the car again. It will start, but die almost as fast as it starts. On the third or fourth try, while turning the key, I have to apply a small amount of fuel to keep the motor running. After that it runs fine. It has done this twice now in the past three days. I have only had the car for about a week now with the rebuild. Before this the car did not show this problem before. Everything else seems fine.

I am no expert on the bridgeport, but it is my understanding that you are going to get that kind of idle with that kind of port. With a peripheral port it is even more pronounced, like a V8 with a 3/4 cam. Idles up and down, up and down.
See what the other guys have to say. I am sure that someone will comment that has a bridge.
