It was flickering on and off and as it flicked the rpms would drop and then go up, and i would hear the engine kind of making a thump sound. I turned the car off and on again and it still did it. I had been driving it for about 30 minutes when it started. But after I let it sit for about 10 minutes it didn't do it anymore. What the hell. The engine was replaced about 15-20,000 miles ago. It's a 90 GTU. Could this be related to my exhause leak or the small backfires i get as the rpms go idle up and down? Huh? Help? Please?

 

Maybe a Throttle Position Sensor? Sounds like the computer is searching for the right air/fuel mixture when it's idling.

I know from talking to Atkins Rotary about a similar problem, the computer tries to find optimal settings for the engine. If it can't it switches to a "default mode". That might explain why it did it one minute and not the next.

Have you replaced your plugs and wires recently? Might also be bad spark.

Sorry; But now that we are in light flicking area I had to ask. My seatbelt light was flickering lastnight, it was flicking/beeping for almost a minute, then solid with one long beep? So i thought maybe it was cause my gas was really low; But can there be another reason why it happens? Even thou it did stop after putting gas I'm still curious why? Any experienses, opinions?

hey so i have it figured out now that it does it when i let off the gas. I am going to try and change the plugs and hope that's it. I don't know when the last time they were changed was. Anyway, if anyone else has any ideas....
