Engine knocking?

So tonight while driving around the SAFC-II starts reading close to 40 while i'm at idle and past 10 while running. Is this bad? Should i be worried about this? My car seemed like it was running with less power but that could just be caused the altitude difference. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Well this morning I look at the car's oil level and coolant and both seem okay. I start the car up, get her warm and running good and now there's no knock showing on the SAFC! Any suggestions? I'm probably going to go pick up a compression tester today and check the rotors.

fuel pump going, fuel filter clogged, or injectors clogged.

Caused the motor to lean out and knock.

Drove my car around for about 10, maybe 20 minutes and by the time i got home the engine knock on the SAFC was going crazy again. I went to the bank and when i tried to start my car again, she wouldn't start. I had to crank and push the gas a little to get it to start back up. Maybe my compression really is low...any suggestions? This weekend i'm going to pull the fuel pump out and look at the filter.

60-70 psi is blown engine/break in numbers for a rebuild territory.

My car has around 70 on the rotor faces and I have about 500 miles on it.

You sure your testing it right?
You shoud run the car for 10-15 minutes and then check the compression.

I've also got around 65psi and I am quite sure my motor is not blown. However, I did do it cold, and this may of been the problem?????

I'll do another test with it warmed up. Will it make that much difference.... We shall see

my safcII does the same thing. But it depends on outside temperature. On cool days <85 but on hot days... >90 when the motor heats up.. it starts reading around 20 at idle and maybe 50 sometimes in a cruise. wierd.

Different compression testers for piston engines will read differently on a rotary. A mazda compression tester is best, but if you get almost even compression readings and a strong pulse if you held your hand over the spark plug hole while cranking for a test you should be fine.

anything less than 90 PSI needs rebuilding...

Make sure that you are at WOT when testing.
