engine iron housings question

engine iron housings question

what's the difference between the 85 13B iron housings and the S4 iron housings?

Ummm...The 85's are probably harder to find?

Only thing I can think of that might be different would be the EGR passages...

They have the o-ring grooves just like all the rest of the 13B's, right?

HELL YES THERE IS A BIG DIFF. 1st gen irons did not have o-ring grooves, the rotor housings did. 86 and up, the o-ring grooves are moved to the side irons. You cannot mix-n-match for that very reason.

Yeh, but he's not talking about the 12A's...Did the 85 13B's have the 12A's o-ring grooves?

We'll have to wait for a guru for this one...

What about the port air system passages on the 85 vs. the S4's?

well i ripped apart a gsl-se motor today, and the water orings are on the rotor housings not the irons. the gls-se motor had the egr blocked off, but other than that they are the same
