Engine install problem... (left engine mount)

ack... I was trying to put my engine in, and I got it bolted up to the transmission (3/5 bolts...but the one on top takes FOREVER without a racheting box wrench... which I don't have... and a set of 8 costs 100 bucks), and the right engine mount went into it's hole just fine, but the damn left one wouldn't go in (I didn't realize this until I had was about to install the nuts on them)...

I couldn't seem to get it to go in... anyone have any ideas of how to get it to go in without unbolting the transmission?

I put the hood back on and this is probably about as far as I'm going to go this weekend... but I want the engine bolted down properly before I leave, at least.

I'm also out of daylight, and don't feel like doing it with a flashlight, so I'll probably just try to jack up the transmission tommorow and see if I can wiggle that bitch in.

Loosen the mount from the bottom of the engine, lift the engine slightly, then angle the mount assembly in place. You should have easly 1.5-2" of play by lifting the engine up.

Simply lifting the engine gave it some play, of course, but when I tried to lower it back down and push on it in the direction I wanted it, it basically just forced it self back to where it was, which is about an inch from where it needs to be...

I'll try loosening the mount, though.

The way I do it is to bolt the metal part of the mount to the bottom of the engine, then use the hoist to tilt the engine and slip the rubber circular mount between the engine and the frame. Then lower the hoist slowly while keeping the mount in place with your hand (scary).

I got in in by loosening the let mount (actually, I took off the top two nuts off, but not off the studs...), and then playing with it, and lowering it slowly till it went in... hurray!
