I have an 88 GTU and I just put in a motor and have been having trouble gettng it to run.Lately I just replaced the fuel pump.Now it will start but only if I unflood it first.Once it starts it'll run for like a minute or so then pow it backfires and stalls.I pull the plugs and they are soaked in gas.Is it possible all my injectors are some how frozen open(injectors went unused for more than 2 years)?Or is it ignition related?If you must know the engine still produces good compression.I got it over a 100 psi.

Any suggestions would be welcome!!

either bad injector(s) or not proper spark to any of plugs, takes a bit time to check it all

really bad flood, fouled plugs or wrong timing could kill spark plugs fast (in matter of minutes not hours) and bad spark plug will spark inside, not on top - u will still get response from timing light, but u have to check by eye to see how its firing...

 

I'll have to check that out.Get new plugs before condemning the injectors sounds a lot better.I could aslo reset the cas too.

Yup higgi got it right it needed new plugs.I also found that I put the cas in wrong too and fixed that.Can anyone tell me why the aws isn't working and why it won't hold idle when cold.

Is it a stock engine? Was the TB mod done? Does it seem to be missing any solenoids, maybe some plugs not plugged in?

 

It is suposedly stock.But did buy it from an idiot(but still a good engine).The bac stopped clicking and I can't get 2 lights on the tps set procedure(if I move the button in then out still only one light).I know I still have to set the timing but can only do that when it can idle on it's own.No codes come up either.
