Unhappy Engine Fire....also.....

Alright, heres what happened. I was sitting at a stoplight, it went green, I got half way across the intersection and I heard a POP. I immediately pulled over and shut it down, popped the hood, and found my poor rotary in flames. A kind gentleman stopped and helped me throw snow on top of it (I'm very lucky there is still snow on the ground!!!) and got it put out before any extensive damage was done. There was no external paint damage (except for the inside of the hood) but a few of the vacuum hoses and lines are fried and whatever plastic pieces on the upper intake on the rear side are fried too. I'm pretty sure I figured out what the POP was. I noticed a hole in on the fuel line that connects to the secondary fuel rail on the side that is right above where the engine bolts to the tranny. It looks like it bubbled and just bursted. I just rebuilt this engine and I only have about 1,500 on it so it is just broke in. A buddy of mine has another S4 intake for me but I was wondering if the secondaries can be used as primary injectors. I have a spare set of origional secondaries I pulled off about 3 weeks ago when put in a pair of secondaries from an 89' Cabriolet (my car is a 87' base model). I am pretty sure one of the primaries needs to be replaced because it always flooded and was tough to start up in the morning even when it is over 50 degrees outside. Any info would be kickass!
Thanks guys!

All 4 injectors should be the same. At least they are on the Turbos, dont know for sure on the NA's though.

So it was the infamous PD failure? I have been meaning to get a new one, or actually a S5 one put in my TII to put my mind at ease.

as mentioned before...all 4 injectors should be the same if the injectors are "stock" and should work just fine just make sure that the '89 injectors you're putting in doesn't have the offset tab ('86-'88 7's have the center tab injectors)...in the mean time...think about getting an '89-'91 primary fuel rail to avoid the pd failure...
good luck
