Engine breakin

Well, I should be putting together my engine soon and it will sit for about a month or 2 while I put the rest of the car together. Any suggestions on storage for that time or should I wait till im closer to being ready to drop it in? I have let piston engines sit for a few months after a rebuilt with no issues as long as I lubed them up well during rebuild, this is my first rotary to rebuild.

Second. During break in, ohh and this is an S4 TII, would it be better to run the OMP for a break in period or could I just got directly to premix? Along with that, I do plan on runnin a megasquirt, but wondering if I should run the stock ECU for the break in too.

I hate to sound so noobish, seeing as I have played with cars for half my 33 years, but again, this is my first rotary.

I let my fresh rebuild sit for 6+ months before cranking it up, although i don't think it's the best idea to do so. I compression tested it at 100PSI+ after the first few starts.

I would put marvel mystery oil in the housings and rotate the motor over by hand ever once in a while. It will be fine. Remember to cover the intake and exhaust ports inbetween doing this.

Based on my standalone fresh start with a new break in, i would run the stock ECU if it is still setup to run stock. With the stock ecu, you eliminate all other aspects for something wrong if it doesn't run right, or atleast you have a good base foundation to rule out any tuning problems.

Running premix should be no problem at all during a rebuild. If i remember correctly, i've seen pictures of before and after with a rebuilt 13b with premix vs MOP, and the premix motor had barely any carbon build up at all.

Good luck.
Justin
