An S4 TPS has one plunger/piston while an S5 has two.

The BAC is on the passenger side on an S5 . The opposite is true for an S4.

The picture in the link is an S5

S5 TII injector connectors are round, S4 are square.

The S5 TII engine does not have a twin scroll actuator on the turbo manifold. The TII wastegate actuator rod is kind of bent while the S4 is square.

S5 engines have much thicker castings and a support crossmember at the oil filter pedestal area, while S4 engines usually don't.

There are many other differences. Check the FAQ for detailed information on how to tell S4 and S5 engines apart.
