eng runs fine till secondaries kick in
A friend has a 88 N/A. He is telling me the car runs great until 3800 rpm and falls flat on it's face. He also told me the fuel pressure should be alot more. He swapped a new pump and same thing. He jumpered the fuel pump connector under the hood and the pressure goes up a little but not enough.. He has swapped wiring harness/fuel pump/AFM. What could cause this? Thanks..

Are his secondary injectors actually firing? He can test the voltage from the ECU without the actual ECU being plugged in. If he takes off the UIM he can apply 12v to one prong on each injector and ground the other to see if they click or not. Were the injectors ever cleaned? If all the injectors click you could also try swapping the primaries with the secondaries and see if it's an injector issue or a wiring issue.

tell him to take his secondary injectors out and flow test them. its pretty simple.
take a piece of tubing decent in lenght that fits tightly over the feed side of your injector. fill the tube up with gasoline and a little carb cleaner (for good luck)
on the other side of that tube get some fittings to hook the compressor up to it. i was able to get everything i needed at home depot. put the compressor to 60psi.
hook and injector clip to the injector. when you feed 9 volts to the injector...it will spray. if it sprays nice and even and freely then your injector is fine. if not then it needs to be cleaned. to clean it just repeat this process with lots of carb cleaner and it will help.
by the way...YOU ARE SPRAYING GASOLINE ALL OVER THE PLACE. DO NOT DO THIS NEAR A FLAME OR ANY SOURCE OF IGNITION. OUTSIDE ONLY. IM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BLOW YOURSELF UP.
Hope It Helps,
