end play

I replaced the bearing plate, thrust bearing, and thrust washer in the front stack and now have no end play, can I adjust it while in the car?

I tried to pry on the pulley with a screw driver and there was no movement what so ever

well there should be any movement when the clutch already has the rotating assembly pushed forward.

You can adjust the end play with the engine in the car.

I'm not sure why your having a lack of play problems. It could be the bearing has fallen down. A easy way to check is to read the jpg attached and measure like the jpg says. Straight fwd and easy.

^ Wish I knew that when I was building my first rotary. I took everything off to be sure the bearing hadn't dropped...

with new bearings it could be now that the spacer is too short. there is different stamped spacers with different lengths to accodomate endplay variations. generally it's not an issue though unless you crushed the thrust bearings.

this info is wrong. clutch doesn't apply load unless your holding the clutch pedal down.

not that being said. when I fried my thrust bearings. the car stalled while the clutch was depressed. so unless your having an issue like that, i'd suggest leaving well enough alone.

if you are having problems then pull the motor and sort it out on the engine stand. it's actually easier to do things the right way.

Front covers, torrington bearings, spacer and the other bs can be done with the engine in the car. Once the new parts are installed don't install the front cover til you make the .0961 measurement shown in my first reply.

Can't get dial calipers in there. No room? Simple. Measure out .0961 on a piece of saftey wire/whatever and use that as the measuring gauge to determine if the parts/bearing has fallen down during assy. Then install the front cover..........check the .0961 once more and install the rest that was removed.
