Emission Testing

Alright I know for sure that in Maine we don't really do any emission tests. However, I don't plan on living here my whole damn life. I really want to do the racepipe thing to eliminate all my stupid cats. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone and everyone can post in on their states emission laws. Thanks for all the help.

In CA, mandatory check at a state authorized smog check station, every two years or when title transfers. Check includes visual (which some smog check places won't do on a rotary, because the just don't where to look for what) for emissions equipment, including EGR, Air pump and Cats and anything changed on the motor from stock.

Then they stick a sensor up the exhaust, and read your emissions at High idle, low idle, drop throttle.

Worst part if it fails, it is instantly sent electronically to the DMV.

Kansas may be a boring state but at least emissions laws are a breeze here. They dont even inspect your vehicle unless you get it from another state. Since my RX-7 came from Missouri it did get inspected but it was only a really quick check and had nothing to do with emissions.

I am going to be replacing the entire exhaust system and I had to check with a few shops before I found one that could replace my cats with just pipes but it wasn't difficult to find a place like that. Thank goodness there are no laws and I can have any kind of exhaust system I want here in KS because I wouldn't be able to afford new cats or high flow cats to make my car pass.

Yea talk about it, I can get a racepipe for 150 where I might spend twice that on a high flow cat that might not even pass emissions. Who cares I was also wondering if anyone is running the racepipe from Rx7.com along with a Apexi N1 single. I like the sounds of the set up and was wondering if everything would bolt strait to the manifold with no modifications?
