Electrical update on 88 GTU

Hey guys, I had some issues yesterday with my 88 GTU, I had spent some time detailing my engine and am not sure if I might have messed up some connections or not but I did go out and check all the connections, belts and what not...They seemed ok?

Well I had been experencing what seemed to be a overcharging of my electrical system and alot of loud feedback sounds coming through my speakers (Even with the stereo off)

The Alt./volt gauge was even pegged at times...

Well last night when I went home it was dead even on my Alt./volt gauge and I wasn't having those issues?
Kinda strange.

Shouldn't it be slightly above the even mark to be charging?

My speakers might now be blown, I still have some crackling noise, but nothing like before?
Any idea's?

Sounds like you need a noise filter for the stereo and maybe new grounds in the engine bay.

The alternators regulator has failed.

Do not drive the vehicle if the voltage is over 15 volts, as at 16 volts the electrical parts of the vehicle start burning out and letting the genie escape.

Chances are you have burned up several things if the voltage gauge no longer works.

This same subject has happened has been brought up several times this week. You should ahve searched or gone through at least the last couple of days worth of posts.

maybe you got the regulator wet and shorted when you were detailing the engine
