electrical/illumination problem

after i got off work, i noticed not only was my front driver side light not working, the entire rear was also off. the only light that works is the front passenger light. also, hazards, turn signals, brakes, and bright (the driver side 'bright' hasnt worked for awhile, so thats no concern). when i turn my switch for the lights (note: parking lights dont come on, so the first turn is obsolete now), they both come on, but within a split second, the driver side one goes at (fading) and making a weird humming noise.

so far, thats the details. any help would be appreciated, including links to diagrams/schematics.

danke,
casio.

First, you shouldn't be driving your car (at night) with no driving lights-- let alone no brake lights! Try and help yourself by doing some searches. You will find schematics and info with minimal effort. About your headlight... sounds to me like it's just old. How about trying the obvious things, man? Check your fuses and tell us what ISN'T wrong.

sorry, when i said also and made that list, that was all stuff that does work. i drove home with my hazards on. and the situation was impossible to avoid in all reasonable manner. i was stuck at texas motor speedway, about 45 minutes from my house, and had to be back up there at 7:30 am the next morning. sorry, i wasn't, though could've, gonna sleep in my car. and i didnt do a search yet cause i had to pass out. gotta get a lil sleep before waking up a few hours later. i'm gonna search now that i have time; the race weekend is finally over. still, if this has happened to someone before, lemme know some details. other than that, i'm just gonna check some schematics.

yo hailers i have the same problem, but both my headlights and brights work.

when i turn the headlight switch halfway on, the parking lights and gauges light up for a few minutes, then it blows my illumination fuse (15A) i was thinking that it could be the infamous "headlight switch plug" that runs hot and melts the plug (this happened on my turboII) but my s5 NA just keeps blowing the fuse.
the plug seems fine and the headlight switch works for about 5 minutes when i put a new illumination 15A fuse in the fuse box... any ideas?
