Electrical gremlins

1991 Convertible w/airbag:

Problem number 1, when cold out, headlights turn on and high beams stay on until inside of car warms up. Note that high beam blue indicator is off. Cruise doesn't work during this period also.

Problem number 2, turn signals release OK when making left hand turns. When making right hand turn, one must manual shut off the turn signal always.

Problem number 3, seatbelt light blinks whenever it wants.

Problem number 4, when really hot, like now, headlights turn on but driving taillights do not turn on. Brake lights work normally.

Problem numbe 5, Dash does not light up with headlights.

I will be pulling the steering wheel off to clean the combination switch and turn signal stalk switch.

Blinking seatbelt screams bad CPU. So, I guess I might just buy a new one to see if it helps.

Could a defective headlight switch only turn on half the lights(front and not back) and not turn on the dash lights? what about the ignition switch?

I don't have my FSM(in storage), where is CPU located. How many are there? What else should I look into?

1. ?????? could be part of the headlight switch problem
2. mechanical problem
3.possible grounding issue
4. and 5. and more. Headlight switch could cause a lot of that.

#1 bad or wet CPU
#2 Cancel switch bad or mis-aligned
#3 Bad CPU
#4 Bad light switch and or bad light switch harness
#5 Bad light switch and or bad light switch harness

Replace the CPU's main board, check the turn signal (PM me if you need one- I got a 90-91 vert one laying around), check position sensor, check cancel sensor, replace headlight switch harness, replace headlight switch.

All fuses good. All grounds are good.

Did a quick R&R inspection. Headlight switch is toast along with the wiring harness. There was a little meltdown.

Pull the CPU out and inspected boards. The main board has the yummy burned electrical smell in one area. Other 2 smaller boards look good.

Turn signals and hazards work. But, turn signal does not cancel in one direction. Combination switch needs cleaning. Surprised at amount of dust, dirt, debris, ....... residing in electrical system.

I'll be searching for some used parts. Need the CPU main board, and possible the other 2 smaller boards just to use a test pieces. And, I need a used headlight switch or possibly rebuilt one. New one costs more than most Rx7's.

I want a new headlight switch harness. Anyone know the PN for this? Dealer parts clown couldn't figure it out. And, I'm too impatient to wait for the old timer parts person that was out to lunch.

Icemark, can you rebuild the headlight switch? I noticed that you have the switch with dimmer which doesn't pop open the headlights(show car switch). Since my headlight pop-up 'cleaner' switch works, I think that this might be a viable solution to the made of unobtanium Mazda OEM switch.

I need:
#1 Complete FC66? CPU
#2 Headlight switch
#3 Headlight switch's wiring harness + Mazda's OEM PN
#4 Possibly combination switch + Mazda's OEM PN

I'm waiting for my Caig Deoxit shipment and Stabilant prior to parts replacement. Hopefully these products will clean and preserve the connections when I find my replacement parts. I'm hoping that a Caig cleaning will bring life back to the combination signal cancel switch.
