electric fan turned on--and it wasent overheating??
i was just driving around, and i heard the electric fan switch on. the temp gauge didnt show that it was overheating, and i wasent leaking anything.
what could it be?
im going to flush my radiator tomorrow prob to clean it all out...and then check all the hoses.

Then you have a short somewhere...I have no idea...If you have modified the wiring of your fan, it could be anything. Best inspect the wiring and relays involved to check for possible problems.

Well damn, learn something new everday, didnt know they came with an electric fan. Odd, none of my AC equiped N/A cars ever had an electric fan, nor do i see anything about it in the manual, but, i guess you guys cant be lying. Neat.

Does the fan run all the time? Or does it cycle?

i disconnected the fan at the fan. so now its not running. although on the dash the little red light on the temp gauge goes on now, which usually goes on if your overheating and then fan goes on, but im not overheating according to the gauge.
ill check for a rely to the fan switch.

My fan comes on in the summer after spirited driving. Or if I have the car parked after driving it a while I will turn the key on and it will run. I guess the sensor gets heat soaked and clicks the fan on.

Actually I think if you ground it the fan runs.

The S4 has quite a complicated system because it has a warning light that comes on when the fan runs due to high temp, but doesn't when the A/C runs the fan. It has a little control box under the dash.
The S5 doesn't have a warning light so the system is much simpler, just a relay switched by the temp switch. Grounding the S5's fan temp switch terminal will make the fan run.

I think that's enough from me...
