Arrow Electric Fan ?

hey i just noticed my Fc has an electric fan installed infront of the radiator in addition to the clutch fan. is the factory. I was under the impression that no fc's came with E fans but it looks pretty stock. Just wondering , thanks.

That make some sense^^^^. I just noticed it today. i took out the egi fuse to unflood my engine and i just heard a whirring. The fan's relay must somehow cross the egi fuse. That reminds me. I have another question to post.

I honestly don't remember how it worked (if it was a turbo, year, or model specific thing), my base 91 doesn't have it, the 88 AE did had one. The e fan does not work at all times, it is activated after a specific water\coolant temp (210F maybe?, can't remember )

I know for a fact that it is a factory e fan (about 10 inches in diameter), mounted in front of the AC panel

Well i know its temperature activated cause a sensor in the top of the rad is wired directly to it. Thanks again.

It also comes on when the AC compressor is selected.

Yes - The logicon & ECU still thinks it's there.

Right and wrong. The stock auxiliary e-fan (which was stock on some models and optional on others) operates when the A/C is on or when the coolant gets to ~205degF. But the temp switch is on top of the thermostat housing (S4) or on the back of the water pump housing (S5). The sensor on top of the radiator is a coolant level sensor, so it better not be wired direct to the fan...

In that case I have to look at my wires more carefully. Is it normal for ti to start running when i remove my egi fuse? Do our cars normally get hot enough for this fan to turn on?

No, it gets its power via the ignition switch, so it couldn't do that unless someone's hacked up the wiring.

No, it turns on if the engine gets hotter than normal.

The fan is very easy to replace, but you should check the relay also. Mine got water in it and turned into a ball of rust...

Yes.
It is there to help under extreme high temp ambient air conditions.
It also will help to warn you when the mechanical fan clutch is wearing out.

Hmmm... I have an E-fan instead of the stock mechanical fan and an aftermartket radiator, I ripped out that little one when I ripped out the AC condenser. Is that bad?

Well considering that not every 7 has it it must be ok to remove it. I gotta get my whoel electrica system checked now seeing how bad my wiring got mangled. Since I dont know if it works when its supposed to im thinking of wiring it to be on all the time. Couldnt hurt, right?
