ECU Timing influences? AFM and Boost sensor

Hi guys,

As far as i know ( and i post this so i get corrected and continue to learn ) the AFM and the Boost sensor both have influences on the timing.

Boost sensor
my logic tells me that the boost/map sensor is for timing under boost. It has already been shown that the boost sensor ( as well as initiaises the fuel cut ) sends a signal to the ecu, which then the ecu interprets it by retarding timing 1 deg per psi of boost.

AFM
I also know that the AFM has an influence on timing, now how and through what perameters i dont know, But what we do know is that when using and interceptor such as a SAFC when we reducer the AFM signal to compensate for larger injectors we start to advance the timing. from what ive read we shouldnt reduce it more than 20% as the timing advance starts to get dangerous.

so what rules what?

if the afm is seeing low load ( would have to be low rpm ) abut the boost sensor is seeing its max (8.8 psi ) what controls the timing?
