Eccetric shaft plug install question!Help!!

Hello I bought a eccentric shaft thermostat replacement plug from mazdatrix and I have a question to ask before installation. I want to know if I use the spring from the old thermostat or do I just use the replacement plug as is and throw away the spring?
Here's a pictures of the plug: http://mazdatrix.com/b4.htm : just scroll down until you see "Eccentric Shaft Thermostats, Springs and Replacement Plugs" as the heading, and it is the 3rd picture in the box. THanks

Would it be a good idea to replace the rubber gasket on the E-shaft bolt or not when doing all this?

I didn't replace the gasket and no leaks spotted in over 2 years, or at least from that particular item .
