EBrake, E Brake, Emergency Brake, Hand Brake, Parking Brake Adjustment finally solved
For everyone with a weak or non-functioning parking brake.
I have had this issue on and off through all my RX7s through the years.
Today I set out to solve the mystery of why some people have tire-locking hand
brakes and some don't work what-so-ever.
So instead of telling you a story of how I got here and my journey to this point,
let's just get to the point.
Even with new calipers adjusting the ebrake can be hit or miss until you do this
one little and simple step.
First, make sure you have your parking brake cable adjustment loose enough to
follow the FSM 2mm rule of thumb. On P-49 ( I had mine completely loose)
Second follow the FSM directions on page P-48. Using the proper brake caliper
tool turn the piston fully in until the piston is flush then keep turning a few rotations.
Now the big-to-do, simply turn the piston counter-clockwise 180 degrees. Just
1/2 turn back. Thats it! Thats the magic trick!
Make sure you are doing both rear brakes at the same time.
Once done follow the FSM to adjust the E brake cable inside the car.

Good luck and let me know if this works for you as well and if you find this to be
helpful.
Good luck,
Joe
