Making a mountain out of an ant hill? Where is that flamiliar from?

 

I have installed two of these. you have to grind of a bit of metal on the brackets to fit the towers properly. Since I was powder coating mine I was not concerned about "Porting" it. Looks good and does seem to effect handling in a good way. Well worth the money IMHO.

 

$24.99 eh? Wow, I must have splurged. I paid $32.99 for mine! But it doesn't rub, and had no fitment issues at all. It's adjustable, and comes in 4 or 5 different colours, and is available from almost any speed shop, so no shipping. And believe it or not - it seems to be pretty well made!




Just don't tell anyone who makes it!

The fitment problem was with the bracket, the holes didnt line up properly with the studs. Once the brackets were installed, I did jack up the car to put the bar on, all that does though is let you leave the bar a little longer (its adjustable) so theres some pressure on it when the cars back on the ground. Brand I think was bomz or bonez, something like that. And yeah, for the price, really can't complain about the quality.

 

Another secret, they're available from CT here in Canada as well, unfortunatly I paid a little more and wasn't given a choice of colors

Don't worry, it was $33 US! After tax and conversion it was $55 CAD. I knew you could get 'em at CT and Parts Source, but I got it $5 cheaper (with colour choice) at another shop.

 

Well 0 fitment issues with this one guys. You all must have bouth even cheaper ones.(I don't know if that is possible) lol

Nick86, that bar looks like an exact copy of the Tanabe bar I bought from RX7.com lexcept yours has purdy colors.

it is such a rip off to pay over $100 for somthing so damn simple! what? you want to pay huge cash for a bar and some brackets?

 

I would pay for the RB bar. But few others made it for me. Which is why I chose this one.

 

Yeah, compared to the prices now, I did over pay, but I bought mine 4 years ago. Oh well, I actually want a triangle bar so this one will go to the old lady's car

Yep If I had more cash i would have bought the RB bar. Oh well. ON WITH THE BUILD!

 

All I had to do is stick a little shim between it and the alternator while I bolted it on then slid it out after the bolts were tightened, it basicly held it up until I tightened the bolts down then it was a hair above my alternator. Why buy the expensive one when all it is is just a little bar across the towers. Look at the factory ones, they are just plain steel painted black. $24.99 did me just fine. Quality on some things just really does'nt matter. Would a $1000 titanium strut bar make your car handle better.....nope.

EXACTLY, RB headers yes, RB strut bar??? WHY?!?!

 

Does anyone have an experience with the Mazdatrix Strut Tower/Firewall Brace/Engine Torque Brace combo?

Not cheap but it sounds like it does much more than the standalone strut tower braces. Of course for 10x the cost, it better!

 

How much does it cost at CT? and what brand is it?

 

I got a used Greddy bar, polished it up, looks fine, works great. It seemed to make the body roll transition better while cornering. Definetly more stable. Does anyone have a rear bar?

Thats fine, lets compare manufacturing quality, fit, finish, and flex.

Bet the RB one beats the rest hands down.

 

I think we must all remember for a second here that just about any strut bar out there is constructed of a higher quality metal, and with a better design than out entire chassis. There is a limit to the gains you can get through a strut tower bar, and having the stiffest doesn't necessary mean that the extra stiffness over another bar will actually translate into a difference. You are still attaching it to a complex design of flexible steel sheet metal.

 

i'm a proud owner of a ebay strut bar. i'm satisfied with it other than the fitment issues they talked about. just added about 5 min to the install.
