I bought a parts lot on ebay the shaft looked great.....but the person did a bad job packing it. The oil pump came out of the little box of parts then rolled around and threads grazed the the e-shaft.

Is the shaft still usable? You can drag your finger nail and get a little ripple feel.

I am no expert, but since thats on the bearing area I think its a goner. Wait for conformation before you turn it into a lamp though.

I have a Renesis shaft brand new in the box for sale if you want to upgrade.

At $20 for a used one from the boards, is it worth taking the chance?

Why do people do this all they had to do was tape the little box.

 

It will work fine, but I'd still pick up a good used one off this forum. Like farberio said, they're cheap.

NA and turbo shafts are the same. That is only a minor scratch though. Can you post a picture at an angle.

The ripples seem to protrude out a little.
